# Manual Droplet Backup

Sometimes you want to take a manual backup of a droplet, they are not subject to pruning and will only be removed if you request for them to be

  1. Find your Droplet in the droplet list
  2. Under backup infomation press the button Backup Now If the button is missing your droplet might be currently backing up and you can check the snapshot table to check DigitalOcean does not allow two snapshots to happen at the same time Schedule Manual DigitalOcean Backup
  3. Wait for snapshot to finish SnapShot Table The size and activity of the droplet will dictate how long the backup takes.

# How long do DigitalOcean backups take?

We have observe that DigitalOcean backups take between 1 and 3 minutes per GB of data backed up. It depends on how many write operations your server is performing to how long it takes.
